Tracking Entry Into The Child Welfare System

Each year an average of 280,000 kids enter in to America’s Child Welfare System. It is important to keep in mind that virtually no child enters the system due to his or her own actions. The overwhelming majority are there due to a Child Protective report of child abuse or child neglect on the part of a parent or care-giver. The following is fair representation of how a “typical” case tracks from the point of report to placement.
